This makes her unstoppable on land where there is soil, grass, or dirt but useless in say a warehouse that is all concrete. Calavela can also emit a small flame within her hand much like a candle its small almost like a little ball of fire or a lighter out of her fingertip. Her name Vela also translates to Candle in English. She is able to use these flames in dark places or when she is underground to be able to see. She can control the flame to a certain extent. The flames came to her from the spirits of her late brother and father that were murdered in front of her crossing the border. Their spirits are with her for the rest of her journey through life. She may emit a flame from each hand. The red stripe marking on her face also represents the two fingers of blood from the fingers of her dying father that had ran across her face at the moment of his death. The deformity with Ranino and his legs gives him a springing ability similar to that of a frog thus the translation of his nickname "Rana" which means Frog in English. Poor and once living in the makeshift houses alongside the polluted “New River” Ranino previously lived with his parents whom have both since perished from the cancer they got sick from by living next to the "Rio Nuevos" toxic environment. This was the cause of Raninos deformity and mutation he currently has.
